Biography: I am an experienced and trained clinical psychologist and certified psychotherapist. After studying at the universities of Mannheim and Heidelberg I received my Ph.D. at the university of Greifswald in 2004. I work and publish as an addiction researcher since 1998. A special area of interest has been the analysis of the social impact of drug and alcohol problems, including family members and social networks, and strategies to improve the reach of the addiction treatment system. I have conducted the first study in Germany on the Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT) and have published several articles (mainly in German) on concepts and treatment options for family members.
I am member of the steering committee of the German Society of Addiction Psychology, member of the German Society for Addiction Research and Therapy, the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers and the International Network on Brief Interventions for Alcohol and other drugs. In addition, I serve as Editor for the German Journal Addiction Therapy (“Suchttherapie”).
